During his time with the club, Austin won promotion from League Two in 2005 and was a part of Roberto Martinez’s League One-winning squad in 2008.He also earned seven international caps for Trinidad and Tobago.A Swansea statement expressed the club’s sadness as Austin’s passing.It read: “Everyone at Swansea City is desperately saddened to hear of the passing of former defender Kevin Austin. “The Swans have been in touch with Kevin’s family, who wished to convey that the club always had a special place in his heart.“They wantedto thank everyone for their kind words and support, but have requested that their privacy is respected at this sad time.”Born in Hackney in 1973, Austin started his career at Saffron Walden Town, before moving on to Leyton Orient in 1993.He made over 100 appearances for the club, going on to repeat that feat with both Lincoln City and Swansea.Austin also passed a half-century of games for Bristol Rovers and Chesterfield, and also played for Barnsley, Brentford, Cambridge United, Kettering Town, Darlington and Boston United, the club with whom he ended his career in 2012.
