Bristol City 1-1 Reading

Josh Brownhill headed a 72nd minute equaliser to earn play-off contenders Bristol City a precious point in a 1-1 Championship draw with Reading at Ashton Gate. The visitors took the lead three minutes after the break, Yakou Meite shooting home at the near post from Andy Rinomhota’s low cross following a slick free kick routine straight off the training ground. But City grabbed a deserved equaliser when a deep cross from the left by substitute Niclas Eliasson was nodded home by Brownhill at the far post.

Sheffield United 2-0 Nottingham Forest

Second-half goals from Mark Duffy and Enda Stevens saw Sheffield United beat 10-man Nottingham Forest 2-0 to give their hopes of finishing in the top two a much-needed boost.United’s cause was helped when Forest had Yohan Benalouane sent off two minutes into the second half.

Millwall 1-1 Brentford

Josh Dasilva rocketed home his first senior goal as 10-man Brentford drew 1-1 at Millwall to keep their hosts scrapping for their Championship lives. The 20-year-old former Arsenal trainee levelled superbly within five minutes of Lee Gregory firing the Lions into the lead but, after Henrik Dalsgaard had seen red for the visitors, neither side could find a winner in a frustrating London derby.

Birmingham 2-2 Derby

Derby’s Championship play-off hopes suffered a setback as they had to settle for a 2-2 draw at Birmingham. In an explosive start Birmingham twice took the lead following corners from Jota. Lukas Jutkiewicz was on the mark in the second minute with his 13th goal of the season and skipper Michael Morrison notched a second in the 19th minute.Martyn Waghorn produced a solo goal and his 12th of the season for the first equaliser after only seven minutes and Rams captain Richard Keogh was on the mark with a fine 28th-minute header to salvage a precious point.Birmingham and Derby battled to a draw4

Bolton 0-2 Aston Villa

Aston Villa’s record-equalling ninth successive Sky Bet Championship victory thanks to two second-half goals relegated Bolton to League One for the second time in four seasons.Jack Grealish’s sixth goal of the campaign followed by Tammy Abraham’s 24th gave Dean Smith’s in-form side a 2-0 win to match an achievement previously established in 1910.Wanderers, who preserved their second-tier status on the final day of last season, had new owner Laurence Bassini watching for the first time. But Phil Parkinson’s side could not mark his arrival by prolonging their Championship status.

Leeds 1-2 Wigan

Gavin Massey bagged a brace as 10-man Wigan dented Leeds’ automatic promotion dreams with a shock 2-1 win at Elland Road.United looked to be cruising to three crucial points after Patrick Bamford gave them a 17th-minute lead just moments after Cedric Kipre was dismissed and Pablo Hernandez missed the resulting penalty. But the relegation-battling Latics refused to buckle and Massey drew them level in the 44th minute before completing the turnaround just after the hour mark.It leaves Leeds trailing second-placed Sheffield United on goal difference with three games to go in the Championship. The away supporters were ecstatic at Elland Road4

Middlesbrough 1-0 Stoke

Britt Assombalonga’s 14th goal of the season lifted Middlesbrough back into the Sky Bet Championship’s top six by securing a 1-0 win over Stoke at the Riverside Stadium.Assombalonga’s predatory flick in the second minute proved enough to ensure Boro made it three wins in a row for the first time since August and keep hopes of promotion alive.Boro boss Tony Pulis’ former club kept plugging away in search of an equaliser but found no way through to leave the Teesside crowd delighted.

Preston 4-0 Ipswich

Callum Robinson and Lukas Nmecha both hit doubles as Preston ended their four-game losing streak in style by comfortably beating already-relegated Ipswich 4-0.Robinson opened the scoring in the sixth minute before notching his third goal in two games with a superb volley 16 minutes later. The game was made safe when Nmecha scored twice after half-time following assists from on-form Robinson.

QPR 1-2 Blackburn

Goals from Danny Graham and Bradley Dack gave Blackburn a 2-1 victory over managerless QPR in the Sky Bet Championship at Loftus Road.Graham’s 22nd-minute penalty put the visitors ahead and Dack doubled their lead just 29 seconds into the second half.Matt Smith headed in Luke Freeman’s injury-time cross to pull a goal back for QPR, who are still not mathematically safe from relegation.Rangers’ misery was compounded by Jordan Cousins was carried off soon after Dack’s goal with what looked like a serious knee injury.

Swansea 4-3 Rotherham

Rotherham suffered a hammer blow to their bid to avoid Championship relegation as Swansea twice came from behind to claim a dramatic 4-3 win at the Liberty Stadium.Paul Warne’s Millers led 2-1 at half-time thanks to goals from Michael Ihiekwe and Matt Crooks, either side of Oli McBurnie’s 20th effort of the season.A thrilling contest saw Swansea turn the tables through Barrie McKay, a controversial George Byers effort and McBurnie’s second before Rotherham’s Will Vaulks struck again for the visitors.

West Brom 3-2 Hull

West Brom striker Dwight Gayle grabbed a match-winning double to secure a 3-2 Sky Bet Championship victory against Hull at the Hawthorns.Gayle, who scored a hat-trick in Albion’s previous game against Preston, struck in the 62nd minute after Hull had come from a goal down to take the lead.He sealed the win five minutes from time with his 22nd goal of the season and sixth in the last three games.

Norwich 2-2 Sheffield Wednesday

Substitute Mario Vrancic curled home a superb free-kick with virtually the last kick of the game to earn leaders Norwich a point from a 2-2 draw with Sheffield Wednesday. The visitors looked like they would come away from Carrow Road with a shock win after hitting back to lead 2-1, but the Sky Bet Championship leaders are renowned for their late comebacks and pulled off another to move five points clear of Sheffield United and Leeds with just three games remaining. The Canaries had taken the lead in the 19th minute through Marco Stiepermann but the Owls were always in the game and equalised just past the half-hour mark when Fernando Forestieri netted with a brilliant long-range effort. When Steven Fletcher scrambled the ball home early in the second half with what appeared to be his arm Daniel Farke’s men were under pressure, but they produced a typically spirited response to force a dramatic draw which all but extinguished the visitors’ outside play-off hopes. It was a very late equaliser for the Canaries4
