The Rosario native also represented Argentina on seven occasions, including as part of their 2006 World Cup squad. He was the national team’s assistant manager under Jorge Sampaoli, and took charge as caretaker when Sampaoli left after Argentina’s poor 2018 World Cup campaign.Later that year, Scaloni was appointed manager on a permanent basis with a deal that runs until the end of this summer’s Copa America.

After a successful loan spell, the striker has now joined the Bundesliga side permanently after a terrific season which has seen the 21-year-old net 17 goals as he links tremendously with Sebastien Haller. Good in the air, as well as with the ball at his feet, Benfica may regret letting him go so easily.
