I hope Eden Hazard AND Callum Hudson-Odoi stay, says former Chelsea and Bayern Munich midfielder Michael Ballack
Michael Ballack hopes Chelsea can convince both Eden Hazard AND Callum Hudson-Odoi to commit their long-term futures to the club. But he has warned the Blues the only way they will persuade the 18-year-old Englishman to reject interest from Bayern Munich is if they give him a bigger role in the team.Chelsea may be unable to sign any new players for the next two transfer windows after being hit with a transfer ban by FIFA.The news has cast further doubt on the futures of Hazard and Hudson-Odoi, who both have just 16 months left to run on their contracts.Hudson-Odoi has made 14 appearances for Chelsea this season, for only four of them have come in the Premier League2
Hudson-Odoi has made 14 appearances for Chelsea this season, for only four of them have come in the Premier League
And Ballack, who branded Hudson-Odoi the future of Chelsea, wants the club to pull out all the stops to guarantee the futures of their current talisman and rising star.Asked about Hudson-Odoi and his links to Germany, Ballack told Mondays Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast: When you are young, you want to play. That would be the most important thing for me.If I grew up at a club at Chelsea, I would want to stay at Chelsea because thats where I was my whole youth, plus he is one of the biggest talents not just at Chelsea, but also in England, so I would stay and try and make it.But of course you want that time on the pitch and if youre not involved you look around at the clubs that have an eye on you, thats really normal. But I hope Chelsea can extend his contract. He is the future for the club. I hope he gets more time on the pitch. Hes already on a level where he can play in the Premier League day-in day-out. But hes still young and the coaches will know how to handle him. Sometimes you have to be careful with these young players, you cant put them in every week, the pressure is on very early.Overall I think hes happy at Chelsea, hes playing at a big club, and hopefully he will extend his contract.Meanwhile, Ballack believes Hazards future will depend largely on what the club can offer him in terms of trophies, as he weighs up a potential move to European champions Real Madrid.Normally with a club like that knocking on the door, of course it is in his head, added the former Germany international.Eden Hazard may decide to leave Chelsea for Real Madrid if he can’t see the Blues winning trophies, believes Ballack2
Eden Hazard may decide to leave Chelsea for Real Madrid if he can’t see the Blues winning trophies, believes Ballack
Its normal that hes thinking about that because hes an incredible player who would make a difference at any club, but hopefully he stays.Sometimes you have to consider other things when it comes to contracts London is a nice place to live and he feels good with his team-mates.But you also have to give him an opportunity to win something. Over the last few years, Chelsea have lost a bit of the attitude of going into a season thinking they will win a trophy. If he starts feeling the club cant give him that anymore, of course he will think differently, but as long as he has the feeling he can win something at Chelsea, hopefully its an option for him to stay.Listen back to Michael Ballack on the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast IN FULL above!
