Leeds United, Celtic and Arsenal are all keeping tabs on Newcastle goalkeeper Freddie Woodman ahead of the January transfer window, according to reports.Woodman, 21, made his lone appearance for the Magpies in an FA Cup match last season, and the third-choice glovesman has featured in just one matchday squad this term.2

An Under-20 World Cup winner with England, Woodman has spent time on loan with Hartlepool, Crawley Town, Kilmarnock and Aberdeen, and he wanted to leave St James’ Park on a temporary basis once again earlier this year.However, Newcastle did not let him go during the summer as they want the youngster to sign a new contract first; Woodman’s current deal expires in summer 2020.And there is set to be renewed interest in Woodman when the transfer window reopens in just over a month. According to The Mirror, Leeds United hope to sign Woodman on loan in January as Marcelo Bielsa looks to add another goalkeeper to his squad.Jamal Blackman, the Chelsea ‘keeper, was previously on loan at Elland Road but had his spell cut short without even making an appearance as he broke his leg in an Under-23s match.This meant Leeds were left with just one senior goalkeeper, Bailey Peacock-Farrell, and the club’s lack of depth in the position was displayed on Saturday when youth player Will Huffer was forced to make his professional debut against Bristol City with the aforementioned Peacock-Farrell out injured.2

Huffer kept a clean sheet on his debut and was praised for looking assured between the posts

The Whites face competition for Woodman, however.Arsenal, Celtic and Fulham are also named in the report as having watched Woodman, who received the Golden Glove award for best goalkeeper when England won the Under-20 World Cup last year.
